Sustainability - Ready for the future

Sustainability is not just a buzzword at Gut Immenhof, but a lived responsibility. Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Holstein, the estate focuses on environmentally friendly concepts and regional ties. Every aspect of the business is planned and implemented with a sustainable approach in order to conserve natural resources and promote a sustainable way of life.

- Sustainability at Gut Immenhof - responsibility for nature and the future

Own well water - conserving resources from nature

Water is one of our most valuable resources. At Gut Immenhof, drinking water is drawn from two of our own wells on the property. This ensures that our water requirements are met sustainably, while at the same time guaranteeing a natural, high-quality supply. This self-supply minimises the ecological footprint.

Regional food - enjoyment with responsibility

Sustainability starts with the origin of the food. Gut Immenhof favours short transport routes and close partnerships with local producers. The fresh vegetables come from Epona in Eutin, fish comes from the surrounding lakes and game is sourced from the neighbouring forests. The kitchen also strictly follows the seasonal calendar in order to reduce the environmental impact of long supply chains while guaranteeing the freshness and quality of the food.

Efficient energy supply - sustainable heating and electricity generation

Gut Immenhof's energy supply is provided by two of its own combined heat and power plants. These not only generate electricity, but also utilise the resulting waste heat to heat the water and the heating circuits. This efficient method reduces energy consumption and makes a significant contribution to climate protection. In addition, the charging stations for e-mobility are operated exclusively with green electricity and thus support sustainable mobility.

Zero Waste - Holistic food utilisation

Sustainability in the kitchen means utilising food in its entirety. The zero-waste policy at Gut Immenhof ensures that all products are used in the best possible way to minimise waste. If waste is nevertheless produced, it is collected in a special processing plant and passed on to a neighbouring biogas plant to generate energy.

Plastic reduction and environmentally friendly housekeeping

Another important aspect of the sustainability strategy is the extensive avoidance of plastic. Instead, sustainable alternatives are favoured. Gut Immenhof also relies on a resource-saving concept when it comes to room cleaning: with Green Housekeeping, guests have the option of skipping daily cleaning or choosing between two other room cleaning models. This helps to reduce water and energy consumption and minimise the use of cleaning agents.

Sustainable agriculture and forestry

Gut Immenhof's agricultural land is not only used to produce high-quality animal feed, but also to maintain a healthy environment. The company also owns forestry land in order to make a positive contribution to climate protection. Targeted investment in the creation of hedgerows also promotes the protection of the land and biodiversity.

Sustainability certification - commitment with a future

Gut Immenhof is undergoing a comprehensive process to certify its sustainable measures. This award is intended to officially confirm and further expand the hotel's commitment. Sustainability is not just a goal here, but an ongoing commitment that Gut Immenhof pursues with great care and dedication.
